Like so many other aspectsf life, the coronavirus pandc has impacted the way breas cancer patients receive treatment.
I had no symptoms heading o her yearly appointment this past fall, Jennifer Stevens thought all was well.
I went for my routine mammogram, my appointment r my annual checkup was pushd off by about three months because of Covid.
But the Turnersville mom oo would soon be diagnosed wih stage one breast cancer.
I really owe it all to my mammogram.
Heck, she's the one who fit found it and she is my ang.
I mean, I call her my mamm.
Angel Stevens, oncologist t Penn State Health St Joseps Cancer Center says her insistence on keeping her routine screening was vita.
Dr Mark Rovito says patiens delaying care during Covids become an issue.
So we're actually beginnino see patients come in with larger tumors, a little moe advanced stage disease, whh is kind of which is disappointing.
The Cancer Center medical director says they've seen about 20 to 30% increase in stage two and stage three because people are hesitano come in.
He says another harsh realy during Covid is the restrictions on visitors.
The biggest thing was thaty husband can come with me fr some of the results and unfortunately receive the results that I had to have chemo and I was there by mf despite having to go throuh that without a literal hano hold, Stevens continues her treatments and is on her wo becoming cancer free.
I have a lot to live for.
I'm 52 years old and I have young children that I wanto be there for many more yea.
